WHAT ARE SUBOPTIMAL PRODUCTS?
SUBOPTIMAL MATERIALS?
SUBOPTIMAL PROCESSES?
Suboptimal Products are things created by a dymPRODUCTS' Division which meet some or all of the following criteria:
1     hard to reproduce efficiently;
2     hard to reproduce, or to continue reproducing, cost-effectively;
3     hard to reproduce at all, which is to say,
4     one of a kind,
5     or, at least, hard to edition;
6     made from hard-to-consistently-source materials;
7     embarrassing or maybe just not enjoyable for us to make;
8     made so awkwardly or idiosyncratically that we don’t quite see how we’d train someone else to make them;
9     let alone get someone to buy one or more;
10   use up “waste” material too slowly;
11   never leave the provisional or sketch phase;
12   are too close to, or even the same as, art objects, which in some markets may be understood as “products” yet are hardly ever described as such and so we feel that as products they are suboptimal.

Some items start as Suboptimal Products and migrate, with our diligence and attention, into a new category (or even, as is the case with Logo Removal Service, spun off into a new business).
